What are Babylights? All about Babylights and other Hair Highlights.

Babylights available at Meraki Salon Lightwater. To create the right babylights look, our hairdressers focus on three areas on your beautiful head. Starting with your hairline, moving to your natural parting while progressing to a finish at the tips of your soft hair.

Babylight highlights should be super fine around the hairline and natural parting, moving with a soft graduation of colour that is lighter at the ends. The overall appearance is much more natural, as if your hair has been naturally lightened by the sun.

What are babylights?

Babylights are very delicate, white-blonde highlights created using a very fine colour technique to mimic that blonde hue achieved if your hair is naturally lightened in the sun.

One of the main attractions of the Babylights techniques is that it can be applied to any hair colour and any length (long/short). They are also a great way to introduce colour if you fancy a change of hair style but don’t want anything too drastic. Babylights are very natural, subtle and most importantly low maintenance.

They offer you a different refreshed look while making hair appear luscious and healthy. Your hairdresser will be able to help you choose the appropriate shade to match your individual skin tone and achieve the best colour result.

Regular hair highlights differ, as we move to a more evolved and natural look. Even the most modern hair highlight methods for creating, such as targeted lightening of random strands of hair have been around for over 40 years. The original “highlight process” developed in the 60s’ used plastic caps through which locks of hair were pulled using a hooked needle and isolated for bleaching. Then the 80’s saw the introduction of the foiling method, where slices of hair were painted with bleaching mixes and folded up into strips of foil.

Whilst the highlighting process has evolved over time, today it still remains one of the most popular services requested in beauty salons.

What about balayage? Well, where does balayage fit into all this. Balayage is the technique of hand painting highlights onto the hair, creating a soft and natural gradation of lightness towards the ends. The result is the look of summers spent at the beach.

This natural-looking highlighting technique is not just for blondes, but is actually used on all shades of hair to add soft, sunkissed dimension. Due to the customized, natural-looking placement, balayage also allows for a softer grow out.
